What my family and I do

Not all Fijians calibrate x-mas but they do take advantage of the holiday season it self. My family and I get together on many holiday occasions to not take part in the theme or culture of the holiday, but just to hangout and do our thing. During x mas time we do give presents and a few of us set up a tree.one thing is for sure, we all will see each other. We all cook something and meet at my older uncles house or meet at the store my parents own to spend a couple hours together. Im sure this x mas we will get together and celebrate x mas in our style and fun.

Good & Bad

One of the most enjoyable jobs I had was my first job. I was a Fine dining Waiter at a Senior independent care home called Peninsula Regent. I worked the floor as a waiter or bus boy, but mostly in the back as a runner (person to carries the big entrée trays out.) What made this job enjoyable was the residents and the teen employees. It was fun to work with someone young. Even though i was one of the youngest there at the time, i still got along with everyone. The residents are all sweet, one of the biggest reasons for me to go back everyday was for them. In my three years at the regent, I gained alot of skills like patience. One of the big ones I’ve learned is to stay away from drama. With teens one of the biggest things that go everywhere with them is drama. I also gained great soft speaking skills and short conversation holders. somethings that I learned is that some times it can be a competition and a race for power. Not on the floor but in management spots. One job I really don’t like doing is working at my parents store. We own a small international grocery business in San Mateo. We also supply meat and frozen products. The worst thing about it is that at the end of the night I have to clean the bandsaw that my dad uses to cut meat for the customers. The machine starts to smell and it takes forever to clean. Even though I didn’t like cleaning the machine, I gained great customer service skills and worked on strong speaking. All these skills will help me in my future because it all deals with interactions. We will be speaking alot and meeting new people everyday, its good to gain any skill any where.
